The story

Restorative Culture is rooted in the simple belief that healing begins when the body and mind feel safe. 

This sense of safety and Body Mind connection allows us to restore our natural way of living—a vibrant, fulfilling life where we can navigate stress, regain control, and embrace peace with the unknown.

Our aim is to empower individuals with the energy and strength to live fully and authentically.

Who am I?

My name is Mattia, and I’m no better than you. I’m not here to be your guru or to claim I’m above anyone else.

My life hasn’t been easy. I smoked for 14 years and, as a teenager, used drugs that landed me in a hospital bed, declared dead. In my early 20s, I battled major depression and panic attacks.

I grew up in social housing in a rough neighborhood in Northern Italy, raised in a family marked by absence—my grandfather was an alcoholic, my parents were rarely around, and I lost my father in my early teens. I fell in with the wrong crowd and attended more funerals than weddings.

In my 20s, I grew tired of being a victim of my circumstances. I knew there was a purpose for me, so I took control of my life. I studied Chinese medicine, immersed myself in yoga, and explored transformative practices around the world—from Europe to India to Bali.
I journeyed through mushroom ceremonies, ayahuasca rituals, and encounters with healers and self-proclaimed saints. Through these experiences, I learned that less is more, and staying grounded and true to our own character is essential.

I discovered that breathwork is the key to healing our deepest afflictions—it’s as simple as learning how to breathe. 

I also found that traditional Hatha yoga, through mindful movement and meditation, builds discipline and focus, empowering you to achieve anything you set your mind to.

Now, at 34, I’ve traveled the world—Europe, Morocco, Australia, India, Indonesia, America—and settled in Bali, the Island of the Gods, for the past 10 years.
My journey fuels Restorative Culture, a platform to share simple, powerful practices like breathwork and hatha yoga, free of tricks and fuss, to help you discover your own path to healing and live fully.

On Breath

The way you breathe, even without thinking, shapes your entire system. It messes with your nervous system, your hormones, your blood chemistry—everything from how your organs work to how clear your head feels. In a way, your breath controls your thoughts.

On Yoga

Forget the idea that yoga is just a cute class you hit a couple of times a week with your friend or favorite teacher, surrounded by singing bowls, incense, and flowers. It’s not about admiring someone who can do cartwheels or balance on their nose. Sorry, but that’s not yoga—and chasing that can do more harm than good in the long run.
